Just another week #8

It's Sunday and I have to go back to uni on Wednesday! Not that I actually have to go anywhere, or travel, it's only a 15 minute drive every morning but, it will be nice to get back into a proper routine again! Instead of waking up at 12pm and mooching around all day, not doing much.

So onto what's been happening this week:

1. This week has had it's ups and downs, first of all, I was sick on Tuesday, which wasn't great as I was going to book my tattoo on Tuesday. However I couldn't get out of bed - girl problems. Let's leave it at that.

2. Just an image from my blog, I entered the Passion for Fashion competition in association with money super market, you can read my entry here, and there is still time if you want to enter! Competition closes tomorrow at 12pm!

3. Me wearing my new Fedora! So glad I finally have one, read my outfit post on it here

4. A set of images from my Zara city office bag! Finally got my hands on it, I will be doing a 'what's in my bag' post later on this week, as well as a review of the bag itself.

5. Another image including my new bag, new hat and new Elle magazine. I thought it looked really cute.

6. Thatchers cider at the pub yesterday, with my parents. We had to get out of my house because we had a house viewing (we're selling our house), seeing as it was an actual spring day yesterday we decided to sit outside, and I had a pint of cider :)

7. When we got home I turned the TV on to see the Mannequin was being shown, Ok, it's not the best film, but to see Kim Cattrall not in Sex in the City is a novelty, and the fact it optimises the 80's I couldn't resist.

8. My Elle May edition, I was quite disappointed that they have not included their 'Elle Inspire' section this month, as I think it is a really nice feature to have in a magazine, which people buy to be inspired.
But you know maybe it will come back in next months issue.

I'm off to my boyfriends house tonight, to go out for the evening with his friends. Which will be a nice way to end the week.
How has everyone's weeks been?
On another note, I'm getting my hair cut on Tuesday and could do with some advice. I have no idea what I should do with my hair, what do you reckon?
It would be really helpful :)

The forest of talking trees, they used to sing about the birds and the bees

I finally gave in and bought a black fedora, yay! I've wanted one for ages, since I saw Of Monsters and Men at Reading festival! (hence the title of the post) The lead girl singer Nanna, was wearing one whilst playing their set, and I just fell in love with the look.
However I couldn't find one anywhere, until I had a look on Topshop's website in early March to find one! It made my March Topshop wish list, and I finally bought it on Wednesday!
I held off buying it for a while because of the price, it's £25 which I think is a bit expensive for a hat, however I couldn't find one anywhere else that was cheaper, so after my boyfriend saying to me 'buy it, buy it' I did and I love it!

Black Fedora - Topshop - £25
Wine Coloured Jumper - New Look -£14.99
Black skater skirt - Primark - £6
City Office Bag - Zara - £49.99
Boots - Topshop - £75 similar here

I decided to wear it today, with a simple outfit, of a wine coloured jumper I bought from New Look a little while ago, I still love it, as it is great to wear with jeans or tucked into a skirt. It is also keeping me warm in current weather situation! I do love dressing for winter/cold weather, as you can probably tell by now, but I do want to change my tights for a lighter denier and even wear some of my maxi skirts, that would be lovely. But I think I would freeze at the moment!

The skirt I love, it is my little bargain from Primark, it was £6 which is a perfect price for a simple black skater skirt which goes with everything in my wardrobe! As well as this it hides my 'un-gymed' body, I haven't been in a few months now, I really need to start going again!

I am also wearing my new necklace from Urban Outfitters, which I bought in the sale for £6.40 (20% student discount), it was previously £18, and I personally wouldn't spend £18 on it so glad I got it for a lot cheaper! I love it, it goes with so much in my wardrobe, I'm really loving the 'dirty gold' tone of jewellery at the moment.

I'm also showing off my brand new bag from Zara! I love this bag, but I feel terrible at the same time, because of the recent news about Zara's factories and the alleged slave labour, that has been circling the news the last few days.
It's a very grey area at the moment, but I still love the bag, because it's exactly what I need seeing as I have to fit my laptop in there as well as all my usual handbag things. (Que people shouting at me for liking this bag, it doesn't mean I agree with the companies way of doing things!)

Hope you're all having good Friday's? So close to the weekend!

Wish lists: My Money Supermarket Entry - Passion for Fashion2

Hi everyone, this is my entry into the Moneysupermarket.com competition, which is to create three different outfits that cost under £200 each, under the categories; Causal, party and holiday. With a chance of winning one of your outfits, then maybe even winning £1000 to buy your perfect wardrobe! You can enter to by going to their website and creating a blog post, the competition closes on the 8th April.

My first outfit:

Topshop - Diamond cut out necklace - £10
Topshop - Strappy Soft Cami - £18
River Island - White laser cut ballet pumps - £22
River Island - White Colour Block bag - £40
Zara - Pique Floral Blazer -£69.99

Whole outfit cost:
£199.99

I chose the high waisted jeans, because they are a good staple in anyones wardrobe, the wash is great for spring (well the cold spring we're having). The darker wash is also great because it slims my thighs down a bit! I went for the bright blazer because I love it against the dark jeans. The florals are a big trend this spring and will probably be around for quite a while. The light blue cami underneath just adds a more subtle tone to the whole ensemble. I teamed it with white pumps a gold necklace and a white colour block bag. The yellow on the sides of the bag, mix well with the yellow on the blazer and gives it a fun feel. Also 1p less than the £200 budget, that's pretty good right?

My second outfit:

New Look - Vera Moda Louise cut out bag - £29.99
New Look - View Buckled Low Wedge Sandals - £19.99
Mango - Slits Sheer Maxi Skirt - £34.99
Urban Outfitters - Wide Brim Floppy hat - £20
Urban Outfitters - Octagon half frame sunglasses - £16

Whole outfit cost:
£152.97

This is my holiday outfit. It comes in under budget at £152.97, so with the extra cash I would spend it on holiday essentials, such as: sun lotion, travel shampoo's, body lotions, after sun lotion etc.
I love this outfit, I chose the one piece swimsuit, it's super stylish and very sliming, and you don't have to worry about weird tan lines. I picked out the blue in the swim suit, for the maxi skirt. I love wearing maxi skirts on holiday, they're so easy to wear and keep your legs cool, but warm enough in the evening. I love the colour of this one from Mango, it's a bit expensive at £34.99 but you could wear it with a lot of things.
I had to chose a hat, you can't go on holiday without some sort of hat, as well as sunnies! I love the hexagon shape of these, so different from the usual round or oval shaped ones.

My third outfit:

Topshop - Leather Look T-shirt -£45
Topshop - Block print skinny trousers - £42
Asos - Triangle Collar Necklace - £15
River Island - White Clean Gusset Clutch Bag - £25
Office - Ozone Black Leather Shoes - £68

Whole outfit cost:
£199.99

This is my party outfit, I would chose this if I was going out with the girls, maybe going for a meal then out to a few bars. I went for a monochrome theme, then adding a splash of colour from the clutch bag, I would have also used the same colour nail varnish as a base coat, under the confetti top coat, however I came up to the budget for the task.
I love this outfit, as I think you could wear it casually as well - a pair of flats and a bigger bag would help this look be more casual. I went for the pleather T-shirt, as the trousers are patterned, this means it is easy to wear, but the pleather creates a smarter look also adding texture- which is reflected in the nail varnish. I decided on the triangle pattern necklace as it reflects the pattern on the trousers well but is not too 'clashy' the white also means it doesn't add too many colours to this simple outfit.

What do you think?

Just another week #7

Happy Easter everyone!
Hope you're all having great weekends filled with chocolate and food! As you can see I've been filling my Easter with chocolate and cold and flu medicine, along with tissues. Least I've got the chocolate to make me feel better and less sorry for myself.
I also popped round my aunties house for a few hours, with my parents, it was nice to see everyone (minus my cousin Gabbie) and we chatted and gave them their long long overdue Christmas presents. I know; can it really be classed as a Christmas present if you give them in March? It was still lovely to see them though and they gave me some great tips on where to go on my upcoming London trip with my boyfriend.

So onto what's been going on this week, I've decided to put my photos into a different format, as it's easier that way!

1. My new top and necklace from Urban Outfitters sale; the top I adore, it was only £14! It's a tad too big but it's better than it being way too small. The necklace was £8 down from £18. I wouldn't have paid full price for this necklace, as it is very light and doesn't feel like it's worth £18 but I still really like it and it fits in well with my other jewellery.

2. Zara bag...wonder whats in there (post coming next week)

3. My boyfriend writing one of his last essays for uni - then we went out to Nando's for lunch and then had a nice evening in watching Game of Thrones (recently got into it, only on the first series)

4. Anti gay marriage leaflet that came through my door (was not happy about this, as I have many gay friends who I think should have the same rights as everyone else)

5. Slug and lettuce menu - with my boyfriend and the parents in Gunwharf Quays.

6. Gunwharf Quays dock - Had a lovely day in Gunwharf, mooching around the shops and finding the Cadbury shop and going a bit crazy.

7. Patisserie Valerie chocolate gateaux. I feel terrible saying it, but I really didn't enjoy this cake. I'm sure other cakes are lovely, but this chocolate one really didn't do it for me. I really wanted the cheesecake however they had just sold the last one - seconds before we got there! I'll have to go back and try it, hopefully it will be nicer than the gateaux.

8. Outfit of the day, Primark skirt, New Look top, Primark necklace, River Island boots. I wore this yesterday whilst hanging out with one of my best friends.

9. Drinks with friends in a terrible pub last night. - Terrible pub, the Guinness was served from a CAN! (Not that I drunk it, I'm not a fan of Guinness to be honest) We then ended up in a pub in Winchester; The Royal Oak, which was much nicer! I had half a pint of Aspell's cider, as I was driving.

How have you been?

Could it be? The perfect bag?

I recently took advantage of the 25% student discount special at ASOS and purchased this River Island bag.

It is a really gorgeous bag, with two zipped compartments and one middle compartment which is closed via a magnetic clip, it is also black (best colour for a bag in my opinion, goes with everything) and it was £30 (£22 with student discount).
This bag would have been perfect if I didn't want to use it as a laptop bag. My laptop has a 15 inch screen, which is a problem as it fits in but it comes over the top of the bag. This is such a shame because it really is a gorgeous bag. So whilst on the quest for a new one, I stumbled across this one on Betty Vintage and fell in love.

I need this bag in my life! It's in Zara for £49.99, which is a bit pricy, but seeing as it has exactly what I want, I'm kind of warming to the price. It also means if I could get my hands on this bag, I can stop using my ridiculously large Paul Smith freebee bag, which has only one compartment! Which means it takes me 10 minutes to find my keys, purse etc.

Basically I need a plain bag that I can fit my laptop into, and also be able to fit other 'normal' handbag things in. There's a catch - It's sold out almost everywhere!
I'm going to try my local Zara to see if by some miracle it's in there.
Wish me luck?
(sorry for the amount of exclamation marks in this post, I'm getting over excited)

My £9 dress!

This Saturday my family and I traveled all the way up to Manchester, which was a long 6 hour drive from my home in Southampton. But it was worth it as I got to see my Auntie get married, it was a lovely day and I was so happy to see my Auntie ecstatically happy as well. Her husband's family were lovely and free wine was a plenty.
We all got dolled up and my boyfriend wore his one and only suit, the same one he wore for my parents vowel renew earlier this year. But it didn't matter because he looked smart and handsome. (Even if his shirt was un-tucked!)

This is Craig and I outside the church, this is a horrible photograph of me however this is the only one I have of my outfit! So it will have to do.
I wore an amazing sale find, which was bought last week in Topshop for a measly £9! I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked to my right to see it hanging on the sale rail, it was gorgeous, then to see the price was even better.
I tried it on and it felt and looked great, except the slight issue with my tummy..basically I had to buy some 'suck me in' tights. It traveled so well, as the fabric doesn't crease, which is the best thing when you're travelling for so long. I decided to wear this dress with this blue blazer I bought in Zara about two or three years ago now (roughly £40). So it's pretty old, but it's comfortable and such an amazing colour.
I also wore some plain black court shoes from New Look, which you can not see in this photograph, they were uncomfortable for the simple reason and they were too big when worn with very thin tights.
All in all we all had a brilliant day and way too much wine, but that's what weddings are for right?

Leggings and long line shirt convert

Whilst on a bit of a shopping spree last week, we went into New Look and I spotted this gorgeous shirt from across the floor. I couldn't believe my luck, I've wanted a studded collared shirt for months now since I saw one in Zara in Paris. Unfortunately that one sold out so quickly I didn't even see it on the website the day I got back from Paris!
Ever since I've been on a search for one, from searching through Ebay to checking on Zara's website daily, hoping they would have one in stock. Alas this wasn't the case.

So when I saw this one hanging on a wall someone had just re-merchandised I had to get a closer look.
It is a long line sleeveless shirt, with buttons all the way up. The pleather collar was so cute, with the little studs all over it. I loved it even though it was long, I'm not usually a fan because I would usually tuck it into a high wasted skirt or shorts. But I tried it on with some leggings....10 minutes later I was in the que.

Then I bought some plain black leggings a few days later from Next and now I'm a complete legging and long line shirt convert.

Anyone else not a fan of leggings, before finding something that you can actually wear with them?

Busy, busy ever so busy.

I know I've been gone for a while and no blogging has happened, I feel terrible. However I have been bogged down with uni work, going to the gym and generally being busy with life!
Never will I let my blog down by not posting on it for weeks...promise.

Anyway, I've been here and there these last few weeks, buying various items to wedge into my wardrobe. Well I say wardrobe, I actually mean the two bars on my wall which I call my wardrobe.
I have been buying things that are handy though, such as my new uni bag, even though it's basically the end of my first year; where did the time go?!

Bought this beauty from Zara for £19.99! I know I couldn't believe it either.
There was a range of colours including brown and grey, however I thought to go for this black one, as it is easy to wear with everything and I wear black a lot!

It's just a simple bag, however I think it looks great. I love the shape, it has a zip fastening at the top. Which is a must in any bag in my opinion. I personally wouldn't want anyone being able to look through my bag whilst on the train or tube.
I love the green detailing on the handle and pockets inside as well which make it look more expensive than £20!
Has anyone else found a bargain bag recently?

Feminine vs masculine

As my sister has been at home this week writing her dissertation, I decided to use her photographic services and asked her to take a few simple shots of my outfit outside. As usually I have to use my dark living room, which isn't amazing for photograph quality.

Anyway, this is what I was wearing on Thursday this week, that morning I had no idea what I was going to wear, it was a nightmare! I seriously need to sort my wardrobe out, it's starting to get unbearable.

Finally I opted for my Zara jeans in beige, which I should wear more as it took me over an hour to get the right size! Seeing as Zara's clothes may say they are size 10 but there are at least 10 variations of a size 10. However these jeans do make my bottom half look naked from far away, but as I took so long finding them I feel like I should wear them more often.  I paired it with my Urban outfitters dark teal shirt, with detailing around the collar. I have never put these items together before however I think it works pretty well. But judge for yourself.

After uni I decided to change my bag, to my 'old lady' (vintage) one my sister bought from a charity shop 5 years ago and gave to me. I adore this bag so much, it has so many little compartments inside including; pen pockets, a small zip up pocket and two main compartments. The stark white contrasts beautifully with the dark teal of my shirt, I also think it's a great juxtaposition between the male shirt aspect and the feminine bag.

As it was cold outside I obviously had to wear my beautiful coat, it didn't fail to keep me nice and toasty!

Even though I have never worn this outfit before I will definitely be wearing it again, maybe even to Paris when I go at the beginning of March.
