Modcloth - Uniquely You Campaign.

Modcloth Outfit

Pink floral dress, £96 / Short coat, £54 / Fitted jacket, £39 / Brogue shoes, £27 / Dressy shoes, £20 / The Cambridge Satchel Company satchel bag, £105 / Ollie Nic faux leather tote, £64 / Dot umbrella, £9.68

I was very surprised and excited, when I was contacted by the lovely Amy over at Modcloth earlier this week. I was asked to be part of their Uniquely You campaign, so I thought I would give it a go. I had heard of Mod cloth before but never really had a proper look on their website, so after Amy contacted me I went straight over to their website.
I LOVE IT! Oh god, it is full of such cute little things. (I'm not saying this because of the competition by the way, I genuinely love it)

Anyway, for the competition, they provided me with one item, which was the Tango for Two Dress, then I had to use Polyvore to create a look by using up to seven Modcloth.com items.

It was a tricky one, I'm not going to lie. The dress is gorgeous, but I found it difficult to find the correct navy and pink, this is why I added the mint green. However I actually really love the mint with it, I think it makes it really fresh with spring time vibes.

I went for two looks in the end. The left look is more of the smart look, with the blazer, heels (which are my favourite) and the mint green satchel (also gorgeous!). The second look is more laid back, I used mint green flats, along with an oversized navy bag. I also decided to add a raincoat and an umbrella, as England is very rainy at the moment, so it shows you could still wear this dress even if the weather isn't great!

What do you think?

Marilyn...

Marilyn...

This week I have been burying my head in loads of books about Marilyn Monroe. This is for my fashion muse essay at uni. She is such a fascinating person to read about, she really was a beautiful woman.
The amount of photographs in these books is insane, they show Marilyn in so many different lights from cheeky and fun to serious and even worried.
The inspiration for this outfit is taken from the most iconic photograph of Marilyn, from the film: 'The seven year itch'.
The outfit is very simple, as you don't need much to recreate such an iconic scene. The dress is from Topshop; the shimmer skater dress which is £48. The shoes are from ASOS.com called Peter Jensen Simple White Heeled Sandals and they are a lot more expensive, however this is quite a bit trend coming in for summer so they hopefully will be in New Look amongst other high street shops very soon.

Midnight glam

I've created this outfit for anyone who is going to a evening event, as it is a perfect dress for this.
With the studded bodice it gives a rocky edge to a standard maxi dress. The addition of black and gold accessories compliment the dress well, you could also paint your nails in black or gold or go for a combination of both, maybe with one statement nail in gold.
By adding in red lipstick it again gives the whole outfit a bit of an edge, I think it would go really well to bring the outfit together.

Day vs. Night

I saw this dress on topshop.com and I need it in my life, seeing as I can dress it up or easily dress it down, why wouldn't you want it?

The day look is made up of simple accessories, I went for brown as it is easy to add colours too if you want to. I decided on bangles as this dress needs some sort of jewelry, you could wear a necklace with this dress as well. You could easily put this with cute flat brogues or day slippers for an even more casual look.

For the night outfit, I added a blue belt and blue shoes, this was teamed with a beautiful gold clutch, you could also have a gold long pendant with this dress as it has a long body.

Both outfits are easy to wear, and I love how you can wear this outfit for a whole day and just add a different belt to change the look completely!
